This Training teaches new workflow management skills to improve efficiencies and maximize shop/personnel utilization. These skills will be transferrable to any automated document/workflow management solutions, but SHORE will be used as a tool for this course.
The focus of this training program is to teach new workflow management skills to improve efficiencies, and maximize shop/personnel utilization. This course will help your team develop soft skills and functional capabilities that can be extended to various applications and transferrable to any document and workflow management solutions to streamline warehouse operations. Document and workflow management systems, such as SHORE, leverage a database environment to provide robust means to connect workflow activities and keep track of critical business information throughout the process. Trainees will also learn how to apply their new workflow management skills to such software solutions
The first session will involve an overview of the whole course so trainees are aware of the topics to be covered. We then will proceed to review the general concept of workflow management reviewing topics including, but not limited to, workflows, job orders, purchase orders, documentation, and resources. These items will be discussed within the context of your organization’s current operations to identify limitations and key requirements. We will also discuss and identify the different departments that will play key roles in streamlining warehouse operations, and how each department could contribute to these efforts.
This session will focus on introducing job order creation and organization, and introduce the team to job order prioritization, time, and resource estimates, as well as accurately linking resources to job orders. We will apply these concepts to identified limitations within the organization’s current processes, such that these skills can easily be linked to potential improvements. Trainees will also be taught how to set up job orders, create time and resource estimates, and prioritize job orders within the management software.
This session will review inventory related topics including purchase orders and shipping tallies. Concepts such as inventory oversight and counting, tracking shipments and items received, as well as document management (e.g. packing lists, test certificates, MTRs, etc.) will be discussed within the context of current operations to identify any process limitations that may exist in current processes. The creation and management of related modules within the workflow management software will also be introduced such as the count and allocation of inventory materials, creation of purchase orders and shipping tallies, tracking items and shipments in relation to job orders, inventory reconciliation, and document management.
This session will be focused on best practices to track and allocate internal labour and how these concepts can be used to resolve related workflow management issues. Trainees will be shown how the workflow management software can be used to create and track internal labour through timesheets, and how outsourced labour can also be effectively tracked and allocated.
The final session will summarize all topics reviewed thus far, and how they can be continually improved even after implementation. These concepts will need to be adapted to the organization’s current operations and are not “one size fits all” solutions. Thus, it is critical the team understands methods to improve these processes as required through constant feedback. We will discuss concepts such as internal auditing and management review to improve these skills and identify how to best implement such continuous improvement practices.
